Multiple Briggs & Stratton manufacturing locations host events to educate youth on career options
MILWAUKEE, Oct. 12, 2017 — (PRNewswire) — Manufacturing Day is a collaborative effort, led by a variety of U.S. manufacturers, to raise awareness about the importance of manufacturing and the jobs it creates in their communities. As skilled workers become more in demand, events hosted by manufactures are meant to educate visitors about the modern manufacturing career opportunities that are available. Manufacturing Day took place officially on October 6, but Briggs & Stratton will be hosting a variety of events throughout the month of October that align with community schedules."Participating in Manufacturing Day gives us an opportunity to show our youth the many exciting jobs manufacturing offers," says Dave DeBaets, vice president operations engines & power. "Plus, it provides an opportunity to show the importance of manufacturing to our local and global economy."

Briggs & Stratton's headquarters and eight of its manufacturing facilities are located the United States; half of which are hosting Manufacturing Day events.
The Briggs & Stratton Statesboro, GA facility, in collaboration with The Development Authority of Bulloch County and the Bulloch County Board of Education, opened its doors to 150 eighth and ninth graders interested in manufacturing and technical careers for a plant tour and information session on October 6. The Statesboro plant manufactures large vertical shaft engines.
On October 13, Bill Ham Jr., the Mayor of Auburn, AL will be visiting the Briggs & Stratton Auburn manufacturing facility, which manufactures large vertical shaft engines, to sign a proclamation and participate in a plant tour. Students from the Southern Union State Community College and about 130 high school seniors who have an interest in technical education will join the Mayor for the plant tour.
The Briggs & Stratton Poplar Bluff, MO facility, which manufactures small vertical shaft engines, will be participating in the Butler County Manufacturing Day on October 13. There will be plant tours and a lunch for about 400 students from the Three Rivers College.
Finally, on October 27, the Wauwatosa, WI facility will open its doors to high school and college students from a number of local schools for tours of the manufacturing facility. Adjacent to Briggs & Stratton's global headquarters, the Wauwatosa facility manufactures racing engines and outdoor power equipment such as tractors, snowthrowers and standby generators.
