Dr. Ahmed Noor, Old Dominion University will deliver keynote address in Washington D.C.
Sterling, VA, August 1st 2012 – NAFEMS North America Conference 2012, taking place in Washington D.C. on September 11- 12, will feature in excess of 50 presentations, 3 dedicated panel sessions and 7 training sessions over 4 tracks, with eminent scholar and William E. Lobeck Professor of Modeling Simulation and Visualization Engineering at Old Dominion University, Dr. Ahmed Noor delivering the first keynote address.
Keynote Address
Dr. Noor has taught at numerous highly prestigious academic institutions including Stanford University, Cairo University (Egypt), University of Baghdad (Iraq), the University of New South Wales (Australia), George Washington University and the University of Virginia before joining Old Dominion University. Dr Noor was also adjunct Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of Florida, Gainesville, and the Florida Space Research Institute Distinguished Scholar of Advanced Learning Systems.
His current professional activities focus on intelligent design and synthesis environments, advanced learning technologies, aerospace structures, structural and computational mechanics, multiscale modeling, simulation and visualization, new computing systems, complex adaptive systems, and cyber physical ecosystems.
Dr Noor's keynote address will identify some of the characteristics of the coming intelligence/convergence era, future complex adaptive systems, and their implications on virtual product creation. The need for establishing an Intelligent Cyber-Physical Ecosystem for facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations among engineers, researchers, scientists, software developers and other stakeholders working on the development and applications of the new interdisciplinary fields and the future complex adaptive systems will be described by Dr Noor.
The new interdisciplinary fields will yield critical advances in engineering practice, and help in addressing future challenges in broad array of sectors, from manufacturing to energy, transportation, climate, & healthcare. They will stimulate creativity and innovation; invigorate engineering education, accelerate the development of skilled workforce needed in the new era and Dr Noor’s presentation will address this in depth.
The Conference
Dr Noor’s keynote address will kick off two-days packed with over 50 presentations, 3 discussion panels and 7 training courses – all providing an outstanding overview of the status of engineering analysis and simulation and ensuing delegates are maximizing its potential – now and in the future.
Conference delegates will be provided with insightful content and perspective on how their organization can realize the full potential of engineering simulation as well as the opportunity to share relevant trends and roadmaps, to explore common themes, and to address these issues in an open and neutral forum.
The agenda for the conference can be viewed here.
