When: April 24 – 26, 2012

Vincent Tong, Xilinx senior vice president of worldwide quality and new product introductions, and Asia Pacific executive leader, will join semiconductor industry leaders in two forums taking place at SEMICON Singapore: Southeast Asia Entrepreneurship Seminar and 2.5D/3D IC Forum.

The Southeast Asia Entrepreneurship Seminar will focus on "Next Wave: High-Tech Innovations through Entrepreneurial Initiatives." The seminar will take a look at how science and innovations are driving the semiconductor industry to the next level. It will bring together venture capitalists, incubators, successful entrepreneurs and electronics leaders to feature their success stories and professional experiences to help the semiconductor industry grow.

The 2.5D/3D IC Forum will cover opportunities and challenges as the industry moves to 2.5D/3D. The forum will look at how a collaborative approach is essential for the industry to harness 2.5D/3D IC technologies successfully, and an ecosystem that is optimized for manufacturing 2.5D/3D ICs holds the key to transferring 2.5D/3D technologies into high-volume manufacturing.

Innovating with "All-Programmable" Devices
As the role of electronic systems expand in every part of our personal and professional lives, opportunities abound for disruptive technologies and products. But the capital-intensive nature of custom IC design has become a formidable barrier to entry for semiconductor entrepreneurs. In his talk, Tong will discuss how a new generation of programmable devices is overcoming these barriers and enabling new business models that are fueling the next wave of "all-programmable" electronic systems in both startups and large corporations.

2.5-D ICs: Just a Stepping Stone or a Long Term Alternative to 3-D?
While 3-D IC technology offers significant benefits, it also presents new design and manufacturing challenges. A simpler approach known as "2.5D" offers many of the benefits of full 3-D, but without some of the drawbacks. In this talk, Tong will discuss the progression of 3-D IC technology and technical challenges for 3-D vs. 2.5D, present a 2.5-D case study, and provide a glimpse into future directions for the industry in its quest to achieve "more than Moore" with each new manufacturing process node.

Panel: 2.5D and 3D – On the Way to HVM
In a panel discussion led by Jan Vardaman, president of TechSearch International, Tong will join fellow industry experts from Applied Materials, Hitachi Chemical Co., STATSChipPAC and Tezzaron Corporation to discuss the road to high volume manufacturing for 2.5D and 3D.
