Universite de Montreal | LASSO: Laboratoire d'Analyse et de Synthèse des Systèmes Ordinés - There is growing interest in the microelectronics industry in the use of formal methods in the design, verification, and test of microelectronics systems. Our group is very well situated in this field as both software and methodology developers, and as educators. |

University of California, Berkeley | The Ptolemy Project - The Ptolemy project studies modeling, simulation, and design of concurrent, real-time, embedded systems. The focus is on assembly of concurrent components. The key underlying principle in the project is the use of well-defined models of computation that govern the interaction between components. A major problem area being addressed is the use of heterogeneous mixtures of models of computation. A software system called Ptolemy II is being constructed in Java. |

Stanford University | The Center for Integrated Systems is a partnership between Stanford University and member industrial firms to produce world-class research and Ph.D. graduates in fields related to integrated systems."Integrated systems" refers to complex interactions across hardware and software at several levels of structure, and to semiconductor, electronics, and computer systems within the context of real-world applications. CIS research, Ph.D. fellowships, and information-exchange programs draw on the unique strengths of the University and industry to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of both sectors. |

University of Minnesota | VLSI Digital Signal Processing Laboratory - Digital signal processing (DSP) applications are becoming more prevalent in everyday use. Because of this widespread usage and advances in computer technology, the DSP algorithms themselves are being subjected to more demanding specifications. There is a constant need for designing systems with lower power, higher speed, and lower area. To this end, we are developing new algorithms, architectures, techniques, and design tools. |

ALaRI - University of Lugano, Switzerland | ALaRI Institute offers Master Programs in Embedded Systems Design with the aim of training specialists in embedded system field.
The ICT environment, the embedded system design in particular, underlines the need for a cross-disciplinary education, involving interdisciplinary fields, like electronic engineering, computer science, team work, complex-project management and market sensitivity.
Such a teaching plan is not generally available at the moment in European universities, where students have usually not been exposed to interdisciplinary approaches.
The ALaRI's goal is to provide an high level, specific profile through Education and Research on the highest added value aspects in the Embedded Systems.
Strength points of the ALaRI program are:
- International top level Faculty
- International Student Class
- Strong connection with the industrial world
- Placement assistance |
