Kansas City Missouri Police Department Selects Memex for Its Perpetrator Information Center

Law Enforcement Agency Leverages Memex Platform for Tips and Leads, and Entire Intelligence/Information Management Lifecycle

STERLING, Va. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 22, 2010Memex, Inc., a SAS Company and leading provider of intelligence management, data sharing, data integration, search and analysis solutions, announced today that the Kansas City Missouri Police Department will deploy the Memex information sharing platform for SAR ( Suspicious Activity Reporting), and for the entire information sharing/intelligence lifecycle in its Perpetrator Information Center.

Memex is a premier provider of software and services that enable law enforcement agencies to manage and retrieve intelligence preventing all scales of crime. Its commitment to speed-of-delivery, education, consulting, customer satisfaction and project management has been established to ensure that agencies realize the full potential of its solutions.

With its 2,000 sworn officers and civilian employees, the Kansas City Missouri Police Department will access the agency’s RMS (Records Management System) through the Memex platform for intelligence management, search and analysis, and GIS (geographic information system) mapping, specifically related to organized crime and narcotics. Serving the city’s almost 500,000 residents, the Department is the co-lead organization in the Kansas City region’s threat assessment center, the Kansas City Terrorism Early Warning Group (KCTEW), which also is a customer of Memex’s.

“With Memex, we’ll have one solution to access the necessary data instead of having to rely on different platforms from a myriad of vendors,” said Kansas City Missouri Police Department Captain Mike Corwin. “We’re looking forward to leveraging the Memex system because we’ll have one point of contact to solve our information sharing requirements.”

Memex has placed a great deal of emphasis on compatibility and compliance with existing law enforcement systems. Its intelligence platform provides a single-source portal for analyzing RMS, CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), intelligence, SAR, open source and other data sources – whether via data integration, federated access, or a hybrid approach. This compatibility empowers intelligence officers and staff with the capability to seamlessly examine all the data in one place, using the same data mining tools and user interface, rather than having to log on and off different systems.

“The Kansas City Missouri Police Department is just the latest municipal law enforcement agency to benefit from the Memex platform,” said Neil Schlisserman, Vice President of Americas for Memex. “The ability for collaboration with neighboring agencies is a key benefit and positions the agency to better manage its tips and leads, and detect patterns of criminal activities much quicker.”
