SmartPlant Electrical, an integral part of the SmartPlant Enterprise solutions suite, covers the complete plant life cycle of an electrical power distribution network from concept to detailed design through operations and maintenance. SmartPlant Electrical-B and SmartPlant Electrical-D (powered by SIGRAPH.CAE) provide comprehensive wiring, cabling and detailed design functionality to enhance the engineering and schematics processes. EPCs and owner operators will benefit from having additional details on wiring schematics for trouble shooting and maintenance projects, as well consistency of deliverables, management of changes, and integration within SmartPlant Enterprise. Common licensing is available now, so that users can utilize either module with the same license.
SmartPlant Electrical's two modules cover the complete scope of electrical engineering and design. SmartPlant Electrical-B focuses on the design and validation of the electrical distribution network, including design analysis (integrated with established third-party leaders in electrical analysis programs such as ETAP), load balancing, cable sizing and the automatic creation of associated deliverables. SmartPlant Electrical-D focuses on the schematics, panel design, wiring, and PLC configuration.
This allows the user to select the right tools for the scope of their projects, while providing extremely fast data access and navigation through relationships within the designs. Additionally, SmartPlant Electrical-B is integrated with the SmartPlant 3D rules-based design solution to facilitate accurate cable routing. Cable definitions are created in SmartPlant Electrical-B and then the physical routing is performed in SmartPlant 3D, with a bi-directional interface to allow cable size verification based on the actual length from the physical model.
By early 2011 SmartPlant Electrical-D will also integrate with SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant Instrumentation and SmartPlant P&ID solutions to offer data sharing and data synchronization between the electrical, process, and instrumentation environments to increase productivity, data consistency and accuracy.
Patrick Holcomb, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine executive vice president, said, "The announcement of SmartPlant Electrical-B and SmartPlant Electrical-D and associated licensing flexibility is our first step in the integration of our recently acquired SIGRAPH.CAE technology for electrical and process control engineering, which has a significant market presence in the global oil and gas, metals and power industries."
SmartPlant Enterprise is an integrated solutions suite that provides full design, construction, materials and engineering data management capabilities needed for the creation, safe operation and maintenance, and capital Project Life Cycle Management (cPLM) of large-scale process, power, marine and offshore projects. The software's intelligent data-centric and rules-based solutions enables users to share data globally, build safety into plants early in the design process, and efficiently construct and manage the engineering design basis throughout the life cycle of an asset.
The ARC Advisory Group, a leading industry analyst firm, ranked Intergraph the No. 1 overall engineering design 3D software and process engineering tools (PET) provider worldwide according to its PET Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast through 2013.
