August 19, 2010 -- 3D Laser Mapping has opened a new global headquarters near Nottingham, UK, following continued expansion of its worldwide laser scanning solutions business. This relocation to larger premises will allow for development of a dedicated research and development facility together with the capacity and capability for equipment testing and calibration. The new premises will also provide improved administrative services for the company’s global operations and will allow for the development and delivery of onsite training courses.
Maintaining 3D Laser Mapping’s heritage the new premises are also located in Bingham, the same Nottinghamshire market town the company started in back in 1999. The East Midlands location provides access to the expertise of Nottingham University’s Institute of Engineering, Surveying and Space Geodesy (IESGG) and builds on city’s reputation for science as only one of six designated Science Cities - hotbeds of international science and technology innovation in research and business - in the UK.
“Just last year we opened a dedicated production facility for our StreetMapper system,” commented Dr Graham Hunter, Managing Director of 3D Laser Mapping. “We had hoped that this would be sufficient. However following another period of growth across the board we realised that larger premises were required. The new facilities will provide the perfect base for an ambitious five year plan and we look forward to welcoming customers old and new to our new headquarters.”
