The 2008 SAE Cliff Garrett Turbomachinery and Applications Engineering Award winner will be inducted into SAE 2010 College of Fellows
White River Junction, VT. – March 15, 2010 – Concepts NREC (CN), a world leader in turbomachinery design, research, engineering, and manufacturing, today announces that its Chairman of the Board/CEO, David Japikse, Ph.D., will present his paper, “Modeling and Manufacturing of Turbocharger Compressors,” as part of this year’s SAE International 2010 World Congress on April 15 at 1:00 p.m., Session PFL504 in room W2-61 at Cobo Center in Detroit, MI. The theme for this year’s Congress is New Era—New Solutions New Congress, and Concepts NREC, with its ongoing innovations in designing, producing and manufacturing turbomachinery, exemplifies this theme with new turbocharger and small engine displays in Booth 306 during the exhibition, April 13-15.
Japikse also will be inducted into the SAE’s College of Fellows at a reception on Monday, April 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Ambassador Salon at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance. Japikse was honored at the SAE 2009 World Congress as its 2008 SAE Cliff Garrett Turbomachinery and Applications Engineering Award winner. He is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the Vermont Academy of Science and Engineering.
“I am honored and pleased to be speaking once again at the SAE World Congress,” says Japikse. “My discussion will underscore the importance of turbochargers and small engines in ushering in the new era of efficiency and innovative solutions. CN will be exhibiting at Booth 306, where it will be presenting a broad range of turbomachinery capabilities, in particular work on turbochargers.”
CN has extensive experience in automotive and aerospace turbine and compressor development and will demonstrate some of its many innovative component solutions for today’s modern turbocharger and small engine applications. Learn about how CN is expanding the operating envelope of turbochargers to enable a single unit to replace two turbochargers operating in series or parallel.
According to the SAE, the Fellow grade of membership allows members to be recognized for exceptional personal contributions to the advancement of mobility technology of all self-propelled machinery -- on land, in the sea, air and space. Fellow candidates must be SAE members for at least ten years and still be a voting member at the time of election. Voting members nominate candidates, and five other member references must support each nominee.
