HP Announces Enhancements to NonStop Servers

Delivers Improved Business Efficiency and Service Levels

PALO ALTO, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — December 17, 2009 — HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced enhancements to the HP Integrity NonStop portfolio that deliver increased capacity, improved performance and enhanced enterprise integration, enabling customers to drive business efficiency while providing greater service levels.

For 35 years, companies demanding uninterrupted applications have relied on HP NonStop systems to run their mission-critical operations. HP Integrity NonStop servers have delivered world-class fault tolerance and performance to companies worldwide that depend on reliable 24/7 operations, such as financial institutions, emergency response centers, hospitals and mobile phone operators.

“Rabobank looks to HP NonStop technology to handle our mission-critical financial services applications and help mitigate risks associated with virtual banking,” said Diederick de Buck, technical architect for NonStop systems at Rabobank, a full-range financial services provider based in the Netherlands. “The HP NonStop system has been an innovative force in mission-critical computing from the very beginning and has laid a solid foundation for Rabobank for many years to come.”

New enhancements to the HP NonStop portfolio include:

  • Enhanced performance of complex enterprise data center systems spanning a large geographic area and thousands of processors, with NonStop BladeCluster Express 1.2.
  • Improved business decision-making by aggregating “islands” of information across an enterprise with NonStop SOAP 4.0, providing seamless integration with open source software such as Spring, Apache Axis2, MyFaces and Hibernate – all common elements of service-oriented architectures (SOA).
  • Increased service levels through simplified software programming, improved application capacity and higher performance with the upgraded NonStop SQL 2.3 database.

These enhancements enable customers to easily deploy new applications and services in less time, while improving access and management of mission-critical technology infrastructures. As a result, customers can turn critical information into business intelligence that can be used to drive growth, improve service levels and reduce costs.

The evolution of HP NonStop systems – 35 years of innovation

Introduced 35 years ago, the NonStop system was the first commercially available fault-tolerant solution. It revolutionized the market by delivering a system with no single point of failure and was quickly adopted by industries such as banking, telecommunications, government and healthcare due to its exceptional reliability.

As mission-critical requirements evolved, HP enhanced the NonStop portfolio with innovations designed to improve server platform efficiency, increase performance levels and application capabilities, as well as reduce floor space requirements.

“HP’s continued innovations with HP NonStop have changed the economics of mission-critical computing,” said Jim Johnson, chairman, The Standish Group International. “Now, many more companies have access to highly reliable, extreme performance solutions to support their critical applications and grow their businesses.”
