Intercim Includes 3D Within Its Manufacturing Execution & Manufacturing Intelligence

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Nov 09, 2009 -- Intercim, LLC, a global leader in Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) software, announced today the availability of three new modules within its software platform Pertinence Suite Powered by Velocity. The modules are the result of the common vision of Intercim and Dassault Systemes, which together aim to enable digital continuity between design and shop floor teams.

The first module, called the Digital Work Instruction Player (DPV), allows operators to display a view of the product they're working on in 3D. Instead of having text work instructions with schemas and pictures, the operators see their work in progress on the product mock up. They can select various points of view and can also choose, for example, to display specific pieces of the task, such as missing parts of the product, parts recently implemented or those belonging to a shop order. This interactive mock up is then updated in real-time based on the work completed. The DPV module dramatically improves the vision the operator used to have - now, they know precisely what is left to do and how each of the different tasks fits into the overall plan.

Furthermore, as the current industry trend is to produce parts that are more and more complex within plants that are often spread around the globe - including many subcontractors - assembly becomes a real challenge for manufacturers.

In such an environment, the Unit Live Collaboration (ULC) module enables production managers to follow, in real-time, the product as it's being built on a digital mock up, which is shared among all production sites. ULC collects all manufacturing tasks and imports them into the digital mock up. For example, when building a plane, the Production Manager is able to select all the parts that have been installed within the past 24 hours, those that are not compliant, those not yet delivered, etc. They can also check the plane's building progress at any given time, so even if the supply chain is split among various countries and/or companies, the Product Manager knows exactly where the plane's construction stands.

The third module, known as Digital Process Integrator (DPI), provides users with a real-time and bi-directional synchronization between databases from the design teams and the shop floor.

These new modules further demonstrate Intercim's strategy, along with partner Dassault Systemes, to make digital mock up the common method used for all functions within the supply chain - the operator on the shop floor, the process engineer and the production manager.

All three modules are currently available as part of Intercim's Pertinence Suite Powered by Velocity.

About Intercim

Intercim has a 25-year history of helping advanced and highly regulated manufacturers reach their business goals through best in class software solutions. Early 2009, Dassault Systemes a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management took a minority position in Intercim. Both companies consider critical that information exchange and collaboration between engineering, manufacturing and the supply network be handled in real-time. For the first time, the combination of Intercim's software capabilities with the virtual experience provided by Dassault Systemes' solutions allows this type of mission-critical collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Intercim works mainly for advanced and highly regulated industries and with industry-leading customers such as Boeing, Sanofi Pasteur, Airbus, Ball Aerospace, BMW, and Honeywell.
