Bentley Wins Special Commendation for Best Technology Provider at Africa Rail Awards 2009

Award Recognizes Company’s Commitment to Innovative Technology and Software Development for Rail Industry Professionals

EXTON, Pa. – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for the infrastructure that sustains our world, has been awarded the Special Commendation for Best Technology Provider at this year’s Africa Rail Awards ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa. Africa Rail Award recipients are recognized for earning the respect and admiration of regional users through their commitment to technological innovation and the development of quality products and services for rail industry professionals.

An independent panel of expert judges, comprising rail industry leaders from across Africa, recognized Bentley software for positively impacting the value of railways, improving railway competitiveness, expanding the number of people and volume of freight being transported, and increasing the productivity, speed, efficiency, and delivery of railway projects. The award was presented by Brian Bruce, group chief executive officer of Murray & Roberts and representative of the 2009 Africa Rail Sponsors, UCW Partnership.

In accepting the award, Chris Palfreyman, regional director of Bentley Systems in Africa, said, “I am pleased and honored to accept this award on behalf of our more than 2,700 colleagues around the world. This recognition underscores Bentley’s ongoing commitment to the rail industry and further validates our strategy of supporting users throughout the lifecycle of the infrastructure they design, build, and operate.”

Palfreyman added, “Bentley’s rail and transit solution covers all aspects of track and related infrastructure. With the V8i releases of key products like Bentley Rail Track, MicroStation, and the ProjectWise collaboration system, Bentley’s solution becomes the most comprehensive for this sector in the world.”
