Pictometry Recognized by American Cancer Society for Providing Unique Support to Road to Recovery Program

Rochester, NY - April 14, 2009 - The American Cancer Society of New York and New Jersey recently honored Pictometry International Corp. with recognition for its innovative support of the Society’s nationally recognized Road to Recovery Program. The program links volunteers with local cancer patients needing a ride to and from treatment.

Last year, Pictometry began an effort to encourage its employees to become Road to Recovery volunteers. The company recruited and trained employees and schedules and reimburses them for time and mileage. Employee volunteers are currently making daily trips to help three “adopted” three cancer patients in the Rochester area by picking them up at their home, taking them to their appointments, waiting at the appointment and then returning them home.

“We are thankful for Pictometry’s efforts and hope other businesses will consider helping us address our serious need for drivers, especially during these tough economic times,” said Mark Cronin, regional vice president of the American Cancer Society. “The volunteers are literally fighting cancer from behind the wheel. It’s an important way businesses can make a difference in someone else’s life.”

“In our country today, we need to take advantage of opportunities that help people in direct and personal ways,” said Dick Kaplan, Pictometry’s President and CEO. “Our participation in Road to Recovery helps our employees and our company as much as it helps the patients we transport to treatment appointments. It is my hope that other companies will take advantage of opportunities like this and truly make a difference by helping those in need.”
