Independent Research Firm Substantiates Customer ROI For ActiveBatch® Job Scheduling Software

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 14, 2009 Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), a leading provider of system software solutions that enhance Windows™, UNIX, Linux and OpenVMS systems, today announced the release of a commissioned study conducted on behalf of ASCI by Forrester Consulting. The report, which studied the deployment of ASCI’s ActiveBatch® job scheduling software at a medium-sized financial services company with global operations, found that “this company has achieved high levels of efficiency in its IT operations while substantially reducing risk exposure in its job scheduling environment.”

According to the study, the ActiveBatch user achieved a risk-adjusted ROI of 139%, with a breakeven point (payback period) of 4.6 months after deployment. In addition, it was determined that “the organization was able to reduce its need for custom-written scripts to manage its jobs” and “[it was] able to achieve higher utilization rates for [its] servers, eliminating the need to purchase additional servers. Reduced job execution errors were also reported; the present value (PV) of all these benefits was found to be $1,133.932.”

ASCI’s commissioned study took place in December 2008 at the customer company, a firm that conducts IT operations across several continents. To execute its research, Forrester Consulting employed its Total Economic Impact™ (TE) methodology which not only measures costs and cost reduction (areas that are typically accounted for within IT), but also weighs the enabling value of a technology in increasing the effectiveness of overall business processes.

ActiveBatch, one of the most widely used IT job scheduling and management applications with deployments in 36 countries, adds strategic business value by automating operations in real-time for improved IT operations throughout an organization. The software allows users to automate and centrally manage jobs and workflows across multiple and disparate operating systems, computing platforms, applications and databases; its newest version ActiveBatch V7, offers a dynamic Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and related Web Services tools to support internal and external Web Services as part of scheduled workflows.

In its conclusion, the study stated the “Forrester’s in-depth interviews with [the] ActiveBatch customer shows that organizations can realize benefits that include improved IT job performance, server hardware savings, improved productivity for software developers and IT operations managers, reduction in lost work hours for employees, and an overall risk reduction on the IT job environment.”

The ASCI-commissioned Forrester Consulting study, entitled “The Total Economic Impact™ Of Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. ActiveBatch Job Scheduling And IT Workload Application,” is now available to interested parties at no cost.
