Lancaster, Pennsylvania (3/1/2009) – The vast majority of 58 Californian counties utilize one of two publically funded software systems to submit pesticide permit applications and report on pesticide use as required by state law. In response to concern about the increasing cost of funding two systems and the long term sustainability of this approach, the California Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers Association (CACASA) contracted geographIT to perform a comparative analysis of the two systems, to recommend a software solution that will meet county pesticide permitting and use reporting needs while leading to cost reductions, and to develop a plan to implement study recommendations.
Background information for this study is being collected from system vendors, CACASA, extensive interviews at eight counties that represent a cross-section of the user base of both systems, and a web survey of software users and Agricultural Commissioners in the 58 counties.
