Mentor’s Mobility Application Delivers Key Technology to the EMS Industry

Mentor Engineering’s mobile application for EMS is a sophisticated solution used by organizations seeking to enhance the efficiency of their fleet operations.

Calgary, AB – NOVEMBER 25, 2008-- Mentor’s mobile applications are the result of over fifteen years of experience developing software for use by fleet-based workforces. Mentor’s EMS Mobility application software is designed to improve operations in this challenging industry.

Mentor EMS Mobility is a highly robust, user-friendly and reliable application that runs on Mentor Ranger® rugged in-vehicle computers. Together, Mentor Ranger and Mentor’s EMS Mobility are key elements in a mobile data solution that provides more effective fleet management and supplies unbeatable functionality to an industry faced with critical tasks.

Mentor’s EMS Mobility application offers crew login, call dispatching, turn-by-turn navigation with one-touch access, real-time status reporting and vehicle tracking using Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) capability. EMS mobility also provides vehicle telematic data reporting to monitor usage of peripherals such as lights, sirens, speed thresholds and odometer metrics. Ranger can monitor idling parameters and speeding thresholds to better modify driver behavior, reduce fuel consumption and improve safety.

A straightforward application programming interface (API) allows Mentor’s system to be seamlessly integrated with EMS office dispatch systems.

A notable feature of Mentor’s mobile data solution for the EMS industry is WiFi Hot Spot technology. Mentor has applied WiFi Hot Spot technology to the EMS industry, allowing organizations to gain additional functionality from their existing Patient Care Reporting (PCR) systems. Mentor Ranger can be configured with an integrated modem designated as a Hot Spot, using a secure WiFi connection, to direct electronic patient care data from the vehicle to the hospital. The WiFi Hot Spot is a means of providing reliable and secure IP connectivity between an organization’s in-vehicle PCR system and the host. Using WiFi Hot Spot technology in this innovative way enhances the quality and timeliness of critical data communication and, as a result, has the potential to increase successful patient outcomes.
