New General Contractor clients for 2008 include The Walsh Group, listed as number 15 on ENR’s Top 400 General Contractor’s List, Pomerleau, the number one contractor in Quebec, Texas-based SpawGlass, which exceeded $400 million in revenue per year, Hourigan Construction Corp., which has over 80% repeat business, Moss & Associates, which is ranked in the top 100 building contractors, Caddell Construction Co., ranked among the 200 largest U.S. contractors and Jordan Construction, which has nearly 40 years of general contracting experience.
“Once again CMiC has had a phenomenal year in adding new clients to its already impressive user community,” said Jeff Weiss, vice president of Sales and Business Development at CMiC. “The addition of our new general contractors clients, along with those in the Heavy Highway and Project Owner space, provides further evidence that organizations came to believe that it was better to take advantage of the multi-million dollar research and development investment that CMiC has made over the last 35 years in developing an ERP solution with AEC industry specific functionality rather than spend millions of dollars of their own money to implement and customize a generic ERP solution.”
American Infrastructure and Independent Construction also chose CMiC this year, expanding CMiC’s presence in the Heavy Highway market. The Walsh Group also has a Heavy Highway division, and the addition of these clients “marks a turning point in regards to Heavy Highway contractors and CMiC,” said Bassem Hamdy, vice president of Solutions at CMiC. “As with General Contractors, Heavy Highway organizations have come to recognize competitive advantage of employing a software solution that integrates financials, project management and imaging and workflow.”
Another addition to CMiC was Cornell University which does $1B in work per year. Cornell University is a Project Owner and represents the fact that “Project Owners have recognized the value of CMiC software solutions,” said Hamdy. “Over the last few years, some leading Project Owners in various fields have also chosen CMiC to power their organizations. Now we are pleased to provide Project Owners with their own set of solutions that address the unique needs of the industry.” CMiC recently unveiled CMiC Solutions for Project Owners.
AlfaTech Cambridge Group is a unique member among the new members of CMiC’s clients. Based in California, AlfaTech is using CMiC for only one major project and is employing CMiC Hosting Services. Not to be confused with Software as A Service (SaaS), CMiC Hosting Services offers organizations the ability to have their CMiC solutions hosted at CMiC, freeing up resources that could be used for more value-added tasks.
“CMiC Hosting Services allows each customer to have their own database instance and hardware infrastructure, with CMiC providing the hardware real estate and all technical DBA services, delivered by just clicking an icon on the client’s desktop,” said Jeff Weiss. “We have a number of customers benefitting from CMiC DBA services already and an emerging few thus far from the hosting option, taking CMiC software deployment options to another dimension.”
“As the financial future becomes more uncertain,” said Bassem Hamdy, “one thing that organizations can rely on is that CMiC software will help affect the bottom line. With all mission critical information in one database, CMiC software allows companies to achieve breakthrough improvements in productivity and efficiency to maximize profits.”
