The new OvationONS™ II Laser Navigation SoC is the first in the industry that integrates a laser navigation sensor and a programmable Flash-based microcontroller on a single die. Based on Cypress’s SONOS 0.13-micron mixed-signal process technology, the small form factor device features the superior surface tracking performance and low-power consumption of OptiCheck technology integrated with a programmable M8C CPU, USB interface, and a highly configurable power management unit. The innovative laser SoC is also designed to support 0.8V to 5.5V operations, and targets wireless mice for mainstream desktop use and trackball applications with a single AA battery.
“We are pleased to have an established input device manufacturer such as Sunrex designing with our OvationONS II Laser SoC,” said Shuo Zhang, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Cypress’s Optical Navigation Solutions. “Their trackball module demonstrates the high-performance, yet simple designs our solution enables.”
About OvationONS II Laser System-on-Chip
The OvationONS II Laser SoC combines easily with an optical lens for simple two-piece assembly, without the need for power calibration of the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) or for optical alignment. The flexible PSoC® architecture enables designers to adjust performance and power consumption to meet required specifications. The SoC is easily programmed in the Integrated Development Environment and GUI-based software interface of Cypress’s PSoC Designer™ tool, reducing design complexity, cost and time-to-market.
OvationONS II features Cypress’s patented OptiCheck technology for a fundamentally different approach from traditional image capture/correlation techniques. The OptiCheck detection scheme streamlines signal-processing requirements, maximizing performance and reducing the sensor's power consumption.
