Pyxis Technology and Silicon Canvas Set Interoperability Milestone

Integration of Laker and NexusRoute is First Multi-vendor
Solution to Simultaneously Share OpenAccess Run-Time-Model

SAN JOSE, California, April 11, 2008 - Pyxis Technology, Inc., an electronic design automation (EDA) company offering high-performance integrated circuit (IC) routing software, and Silicon Canvas, Inc., developer of the Lakerâ„¢ suite of high-performance software for custom IC design, announced today the first multi-vendor solution to use the OpenAccess Run-Time-Model (OA-RTM) to enable the simultaneous execution of two commercial tools within the same Unix process. Until now, this type of tight integration was only possible for tools integrated as a proprietary solution from a single vendor. The integration of Pyxis NexusRoute and Silicon Canvas Laker provides the best of both worlds: seamless tool integration and best-in-class point tools.

Pyxis and Silicon Canvas are demonstrating the integration to a live audience at the 12th annual OpenAccess Conference on April 16th, at the Doubletree Hotel, San Jose ( http://www.si2.org/?page=934). The demonstration shows the Laker chip layout editing tool being invoked followed by the NexusRoute tool being loaded into the same process. A design is loaded and the demonstration shows how the user can move throughout the design hierarchy making design changes and then incrementally re-routing the design. Because the two tools are literally sharing the same in-memory structures in the same process, all changes made by one tool are instantly recognized by the other tool.

"This is a perfect example of using the full capabilities of OpenAccess to deliver tightly-integrated multi-vendor flows, enabling even greater innovation," said Steven Schulz, president and CEO of Si2. "The tools are working seamlessly together as if they were one application. The user literally sees a common environment with multiple engines at his disposal."

"The combination of a high performance yield-aware router with a full-chip editing environment makes for a very powerful chip finishing and design closure solution," said Phil Bishop, CEO of Pyxis Technology. "The richness of the OpenAccess standard allowed us to integrate these tools within a matter of days and speaks to a whole new level of value users can gain by integrating best-in-class point tools into the leading EDA environments."

"We are extremely pleased to see the tight integration possible when using the OpenAccess run-time-model," said Hua-Yung Chen, CEO of Silicon Canvas. "Our customers are looking for a seamless integration of these kinds of capabilities and OpenAccess is making this possible."
