TerraServer and Pictometry Partner to Offer Oblique Imagery Online

RALEIGH, NC (April 8, 2008) -– TerraServer, a leading distributer of online imagery, has signed a partnership agreement with Pictometry to make oblique and orthogonal images available for purchase online. Through this partnership, Pictometry’s high resolution oblique images will soon become available for individual purchases as image downloads and print orders at www.TerraServer.com.

"We are excited about this partnership because the oblique imagery from Pictometry will add something unique to our already impressive library of images," said Brian Randy Funk, Chief Operating Officer of TerraServer. "This partnership reinforces our reputation as the most complete and easy-to-use resource for unique imagery."

TerraServer will soon add the Pictometry oblique imagery into the interactive online TerraServer imagery viewer. The oblique imagery will be integrated in with the rest of the TerraServer imagery library which includes satellite photos, aerial images, USGS topo maps, FAA aeronautical charts as well as custom imagery overlays. Additionally, the oblique imagery from Pictometry will be available for purchase as downloads and prints which can be ordered in a wide variety of sizes and formats.

"We’re thrilled to partner with TerraServer to make visual information more accessible than ever," said Dante Pennacchia, Pictometry’s Chief Marketing Officer. "By simply making our oblique image libraries, state-of-the art software, and web-based delivery systems quick and easy to use, we’re making sure visual information is always just a click away."

Pictometry oblique imagery is captured using a patented process designed to achieve a 3-D like view of structures and properties. As a result, oblique imagery offers a full range of viewing options and provides optimal visual information for an all-around understanding of locations. In this way, oblique imagery differs from traditional aerial imagery which is typically captured at an overhead (orthogonal) angle, resulting in a single, straight-down roof-top view.
