60th Design Automation Conference Names Executive Committee for the 2023 Conference and Exhibition

SAN FRANCISCO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 28, 2022 — The Design Automation Conference (DAC), the only event devoted to electronic design and design automation of electronic circuits and systems, has named Jörg Henkel of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as the 60th DAC General Chair. Vivek De, Fellow, and Director of Circuit Technology Research at Intel Labs, will join Jörg as Vice Chair for the 2023 conference. Under their leadership, the DAC Executive Committee (EC) will oversee the exhibition and trade show, plan the technical program, establish new initiatives, and manage conference operations and publicity. A distinctive and diverse group of volunteers has been selected from across the semiconductor, research, embedded systems and electronic design automation (EDA) industries to join the 2023 EC.

The 60th DAC event and celebration will be held at Moscone West Center in San Francisco, CA, from July 9 –13, 2023. DAC will co-locate with SEMICON West 2023, which will be held July 11–14 at Moscone North and South Halls.

“This year DAC will be celebrating 60 years as the premier event for the design and design automation of electronic circuits and systems. DAC has been the pioneer of innovation for chip and system designers, academics, researchers, government, and the electronic design vendor community,” Jörg said. “The event’s core automation focus has evolved to include both design and automation, such as the design of embedded systems, AI for design automation and architectures, security, autonomous systems, and cloud computing. I’m pleased to be working with an exceptional group of dedicated volunteers to plan and execute the 60th DAC.”

Joining Jörg on the 60th DAC Executive Committee will be:

In addition to his role as 60th DAC General Chair, Jörg is with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, where he is directing the Chair for Embedded Systems CES. Before, he was a Senior Research Staff Member at NEC Laboratories in Princeton, NJ. He received his Ph.D. from Braunschweig University with summa cum laude.

Jörg has led various design automation and embedded systems conferences as General Chair including ICCAD, ESWeek etc. and has been a Program Chair of more than ten conferences/workshops. He has been the Editor-in-Chief of both the IEEE Design&Test Magazine and the ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems. He is / has been a member of the ACM SIGDA board (Vice Chair and Conference Chair) as well of the IEEE CEDA board (VP Publications). Jörg has also initiated and has been / is co-ordinating major national research centers/activities. Throughout his career Jörg has received five best paper awards from major design automation and embedded systems conferences. He holds ten U.S. patents and is an IEEE Fellow.

Call for Contributions for the 60th DAC will open Oct. 3, 2022. Please check back to Dac.com for details.

About DAC

The Design Automation Conference (DAC) is recognized as the premier event for the design of electronic circuits and systems, and for electronic design automation (EDA) and silicon solutions. A diverse worldwide community representing more than 1,000 organizations attends each year, represented by system designers and architects, logic and circuit designers, validation engineers, CAD managers, senior managers and executives to researchers and academicians from leading universities. Close to 100 technical sessions selected by a committee of electronic design experts offer information on recent developments and trends, management practices and new products, methodologies, and technologies. A highlight of DAC is its exhibition and suite area with approximately 175 of the leading and emerging EDA, intellectual property (IP) design infrastructure and electronic design ecosystem providers. The conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is supported by ACM's Special Interest Group on Design Automation (ACM SIGDA) and IEEE's Council on Electronic Design Automation (IEEE CEDA).
