ASM International Forms Partnership With Jobsohio to Enhance Its Additive Manufacturing Training Program

The contribution from JobsOhio will strengthen the additive manufacturing knowledge of Ohio based companies

MATERIALS PARK, Ohio, June 20, 2019 — (PRNewswire) —

MATERIALS PARK, Ohio, June 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ --  JobsOhio has partnered with ASM International in the form of a nonprofit contribution to enhance the additive manufacturing knowledge of Ohio-based companies. The decision to engage with ASM International comes after a discovery process that was championed by Team NEO. The contribution of $475,000 will be utilized specifically for ASM's Additive Manufacturing Training Program to add laboratory equipment to classrooms at ASM's headquarters in Materials Park, Ohio. The new capabilities will expand ASM's education offering to materials-intensive organizations that are developing and deploying metallic 3D printing technologies.

ASM International has a 60-plus year history of offering accredited education courses on materials science topics. ASM's courses on additive manufacturing focus on pre-printing and post-printing materials and processes. The additional equipment from the JobsOhio funding helps to expand the curricula and hands-on learning offering. By maintaining a machine-agnostic approach to the 3D printer itself, ASM's coursework applies to any organization that is in need of additive manufacturing know-how, independent of the printing technology.

"The generous contribution from JobsOhio will accelerate the ability for ASM International to offer Ohio companies leading-edge training on the entire process lifecycle associated with the additive manufacturing of metals," stated ASM International CEO, Bill Mahoney.

"Additive Manufacturing is essential to the future of how we build things in Ohio," said Glenn Richardson, JobsOhio Managing Director for Advanced Manufacturing. "This assistance will help expand our innovation and talent development eco-system for this disruptive technology and further Ohio's reputation as the Center of Excellence for Additive Manufacturing.

ASM currently educates approximately 3,000 students per year, many of those in its laboratories and classrooms in Northeast Ohio. For more information regarding its Additive Manufacturing Training Program and additional coursework, please contact ASM International's education department at Email Contact or by calling 440.338.5151.
