In February 2018, Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA announced that it had joined the GMS Express program. Just over one month later, Spreadtrum SC9850 and SC7731E now support Android 8.1 (Go version) as well as GMS Express for Go, and more SoC platforms are coming very soon. Smart devices based on Spreadtrum SC7731E Android 8.1 (Go version) boast smooth performance and excellent user experience even with 512 MB of RAM.
Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA SoC platforms have already passed Android Go Certification - meaning that it can provide mobile device manufacturers with pre-tested, pre-certified and fully compatible Android software, which includes Google Mobile Service (GMS), Google Compatibility Test Suite (CTS), and monthly security updates. This not only significantly reduces the time required for compatibility verification with Google and gets products to market much more quickly, but also allows users to receive regular security updates and immediate technical support from Android, reducing the risk of device intrusion.
"Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA has always been committed to providing customers with cost-effective, end-to-end solutions," said Mr. Adam Zeng, Global Executive Vice President of Unigroup and CEO of Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA. "By working with Google on Android Go version and GSM Express, we can supply customers with high-performance chip platforms with competitive configurations whilst helping them achieve short time-to-market for their end products and improving their energy efficiency management, security, and user experience. In the future, Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA's full range of Spreadtrum products will fully support Android Go edition and GMS Express, and we will work with global customers to achieve rapid success in market competition.
