VolkerWessels to Use Yotta's Horizons on Major Dutch Infrastructure Project

Visualised Asset Management Software Will Have Key Analysis Role throughout 25-year Monitoring and Maintenance Contract

Leamington Spa, UK, Oct 2, 2017 – Technology company, Yotta has announced its visualised asset management software, Horizons will play a key analysis role on one of the Netherland's largest infrastructure projects of modern times, the expansion of a 23 kilometre-long link road, connecting Schiphol airport to the city of Amsterdam and the municipality of Almere.

The Horizons software is being delivered, implemented and supported by Yotta's Dutch distributor, Infra Asset Management BV (formerly Wegdekmeten), whose role is to provide strategic asset management support to the project and to run regular surveys of asset condition.

Infra Asset Management has contracted directly  with VolkerWessels. VolkerWessels implements Horizons on A1-A6  a 30-year Design, Build, Finance and Maintain (DBFM) contract, commissioned by the Dutch Department of Waterways and Public Works Rijkswaterstaat.  VolkerWessels participates in SAAone (name of the A1-A6 consortium), made up of Hochtief, Royal Boskalis Westminster, VolkerWessels and the Dutch Infrastructure Fund (DIF).

Horizons' reporting capability will enable Maintanance Company to inform the consortium and Rijkswaterstaat about the historical and current condition of the highways asset, as well as giving an insight into future asset management plans. Critically also, the visualisation tool's analysis capability will allow SAAone to conduct scenario planning over time to test a range of different asset management strategies and plan investment over the contract period as a whole, while avoiding falling foul of the condition criteria imposed by Rijkswaterstaat.

According to Dirk Aalbers, business consultant, Infra Asset Management: "SAAone consistently needs to demonstrate to Rijkswaterstaat that it is monitoring and maintaining the highways infrastructure in good condition. It also needs to show that it is making the right investment decisions. It quickly recognised that Horizons with its powerful data-driven analysis capability was best suited to this, enabling it to deliver operational efficiencies and avoid incurring the penalties Rijkswaterstaat hands out for non-compliance."

Allart Bosch, Maintenance Engineer of  the A1-A6 consortium, said: "We were impressed with Horizons and the potential it offers us to optimise our asset data and analyse different scenarios, in order to make the best possible maintenance decisions, while ensuring we deliver to our contracted service levels. We are confident Horizons is going to improve the quality of our decisions."â‹
