ALLPLAN Supports Three EU Projects for the Future of Building

Building Information Modeling (BIM) as the focus of the project plan

ALLPLAN provides support with product and process expertise for the next level of integrated building planning

All projects are based on the cloud-based BIM platform Allplan Bimplus

Jun 13, 2017 - ALLPLAN, a European provider of solutions for Building Information Modeling (BIM), is supporting three EU projects for building optimization with its expertise in the area of BIM-based working methods. According to the requirements of the European directive on the overall energy efficiency of buildings, all new buildings must comply with the lowest energy standard starting in 2021. In order to meet this requirement, the European Union has initiated several projects for the optimization of buildings. In addition to a number of industrial partners, ALLPLAN provides support with its product and process expertise, is involved in defining BIM workflows and is also involved in expanding standard interfaces.

HOLISTEEC

The HOLISTEEC project is about developing a cloud-based BIM platform to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. As part of the project, ALLPLAN is developing the so-called SCOREBOARD based on the Allplan Bimplus, which makes it possible to compare the results of different building simulations. In this way, builders and planners can already ensure in the early project phases that they are planning and building optimally in order to manage the building in an energy-efficient manner in the later usage phase.

eeEmbedded

The eeEmbedded project (Collaborative Holistic Design Laboratory and Methodology for Energy-Efficient EmbeddedBuildings) is about obtaining an energy analysis and statement regarding the amortization of investment costs for a building. For this purpose, the companies and research institutions involved are developing a "virtual lab" based on a BIM model that takes the building life cycle into consideration. This makes it possible to predict the energy efficiency of a building with its technical systems (heating, cooling, ventilation and control). ALLPLAN is developing a so-called multi-model navigator in the project based on Allplan Bimplus. This will allow the user to define different construction and space usage versions, which are simulated in external simulation tools in terms of energy consumption, design costs and long-term costs.

BuildHeat

The BuildHeat project is an initiative for the development of reliable, energy-efficient and affordable conversion and retrofitting solutions for social housing construction. ALLPLAN provides support here with the iBIM app. It identifies residence and spaces with unfavorable consumption values to thus be able to plan and implement targeted refurbishments.

"The examples show that with Allplan Bimplus we are decisively involved in innovative projects for future-oriented construction," says Markus Tretheway, Vice President of Product Management, ALLPLAN. "Through the open programming interface of the BIM platform, we can link planning partners in a more flexible way and thus create the basis for successful project management," continues Markus Tretheway.

The latest innovation from Allplan Bimplus is the iPad app with touch functionality of the browser version, which makes operation even more convenient and is available on every device. In addition, the task management has been improved by using the task board and the editing feature to control 3D models has been enhanced.
