FINALCAD Provides In-Kind Software Grant to billionBricks to Bring Higher Quality Buildings to Disadvantaged Populations

Paris and Singapore, June 6, 2017 - FINALCAD, a global leader in field mobile apps and predictive analytics for construction, today announced a Partnership with billionBricks, a non-profit design and innovation studio created with the vision to end homelessness in developing countries.

billionBricks is a team of passionate designers, architects and building industry professionals who believe that buildings for the poor should not be poorly designed and built. This non-profit was established in Singapore by Prasoon Kumar, an architect and Anurag Srivastava, a serial entrepreneur, who noticed the dismal quality of housing designed for the poor in developing countries in the South-East Asian region.

billionBricks  closely consults with communities, other NGOs and governments to provide scalable high-quality buildings and infrastructure solutions. As an Autodesk Foundation grantee, the billionBricks Studio was already using AutoCAD to create blueprints of their projects. Since FINALCAD is directly integrated with AutoCAD, it appeared as the ideal companion to bring all design information to the field for the construction phase.

FINALCAD provided in-kind software grant (FINALCAD PRO licenses) and mobile devices (tablets) to two current projects: a sustainable model village in Konchur, India, and the Etania school project for stateless children in Sabah, Malaysia. The billionBricks Studio will also continue to benefit from FINALCAD on other projects in the future.

“Our ambition at FINALCAD is to change the way we build by improving quality, reducing its cost, and making it accessible to all. We also believe that non-profit organizations like billionBricks should be equipped with the same professional tools as the rest of the construction industry. From this shared vision, we’re really proud to provide our contribution to billionBricks’ ambitious mission to end homelessness in the region”, said Pierre Vauthrin, Asia Managing Director, FINALCAD.

“As a non-profit, we’re always constrained with resources, but we never wanted to compromise on the quality of our work. For us to make sure that work is always of the highest quality, and effectively managed what gets done on the ground, FINALCAD was very useful to monitor the progress of the projects”, said Prasoon Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO of billionBricks. “The benefits are obvious for us, we are able work in a very lean and efficient way”, he added.
