Jose A. Rivera, Wanhao USA's CEO, stated that the plan for expansion includes the already established USA corporate office in Miami, FL, the newly opened San Diego service center, and an additional service center and warehouse in the midwest by the Spring of 2017.
Rivera mentions: "Beyond the advantage of proximity to our Mexican customers, San Diego presents an opportunity to shorten shipping times between our facilities and West Coast USA customers. Our goal to have a different service center in all 3 North American shipping zones will lower our shipping costs for replacement parts and machines requiring repair. This cost savings will allow us to keep offering top-quality machines with less markup for our customers."
This expansion by Wanhao USA seeks to achieve in the United States the same aggressive growth shown by 3D printer brands in the Asian market over the past few years. According to Scott J Grunewald of 3dprint.com: "Since 2011 the Chinese 3D printing market has doubled every year since and in 2016 it is expected to reach $1.5 billion."
Wanhao's release of the Duplicator i3 PLUS last month has eschewed a new era for the brand as it targets customers looking for feature-packed 3D printers at extremely attractive price points. The Duplicator i3 PLUS has already been rated one of the top 10 printers of 2016 by all3dp.com and the brand's push to re-invest profits into design, innovation, and customer support shows proof that they are serious about competing for the top import spot.
