Jeffrey Daniels, Program Director for Architecture & Interior Design Elevated to College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Feb 22, 2016 -- Jeffrey Daniels, Architect and Program Director of the Architecture and Interior Design at UCLA Extension, has been elevated to the prestigious College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

The Fellows distinction recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual, but also elevates before the public and the profession those architects who have made significant contributions to architecture and to society.

"The AIA accolade recognizes Jeffrey Daniels' high impact architectural career and professional contributions," said Linda Venis, PhD, Director of The Arts at UCLA Extension. "The Architecture and Interior Design Program has benefited not only in terms of overall growth, but in terms of its advanced level of professional design education due to Jeff's unique creative vision. The AIA honor acknowledges these achievements."

Daniels studied architecture as an undergraduate at Princeton University and achieved his Master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He first worked in the Taller de Arquitectura founded by Ricardo Bofill in Barcelona, Spain. Daniels then came to Los Angeles where he apprenticed for Frank Gehry on such projects as the Loyola Law School near downtown Los Angeles. The architectural works designed by Jeffrey Daniels Architects include the David Hockney Residence, the Edythe and Eli Broad Painting Studios for the California Institute of the Arts, restaurant interiors for Chaya Brasserie, Chaya Venice, Typhoon and Opus as well as the award winning Kentucky Fried Chicken building on Western Avenue. In 2013 Daniels' work was exhibited as part of "Overdrive: LA Constructs the Future", an architectural exhibit at the Getty Museum, which also traveled to the National Building Museum in Washington D.C.

Daniels, a licensed architect with more than 30 years of experience in design, directs the Master of Interior Architecture Degree program (MIA), offered by UCLA Extension in collaboration with the Department of Architecture in the College of Environmental Design at the California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. When asked about the AIA Fellows recognition, Daniels said "I am honored to be recognized by the AIA for trying to bring a sense of innovative exploration to the making and teaching of architecture."

On May 19-21, the 2016 Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2016 National AIA Convention in Philadelphia.
