Chip Downing selected to head US operations and worldwide SCADE sales

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and ELANCOURT, France (July 30, 2004) – Esterel Technologies, a world leader supplying solutions that fully automate correct-by-construction automated implementation of HDL or software generated from formal specifications, today announced the selection of Chip Downing as Chief Executive Officer for Esterel Technologies, Inc. and Vice-President of Embedded Market Operations.

Bant駎ie continued, “Chip is an experienced Sales and Operations Executive with more than 20 years experience in technology organizations including Mentor Graphics, Qualix and Ready Systems. Chip’s experience working with safety and mission-critical applications, including those that must adhere to strict standards such as the civilian avionics guideline DO-178B, are particularly important in supporting our worldwide SCADE tool sales.”

Most recently Vice President of Business Development at Validated Software Corporation, Mr. Downing’s responsibilities will include Chief Executive Officer for Esterel Technologies Inc., the US arm of Esterel Technologies, and head of worldwide sales of SCADE (Safety Critical Application Development Environment), the Esterel Technologies tool used by developers to create critical embedded software applications such as those for automated pilots, safety restraints and engine controls.
