Former Intel & ASML Executive with Chip Design, EDA, DFM and Lithography Experience will Help Coventor Grow its Existing Customer Base and Reach New Markets
CARY, North Carolina – June 8, 2015 – Coventor®, Inc., the leading supplier of virtual fabrication solutions for semiconductor devices and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), today announced the appointment of Mr. Dinesh Bettadapur as vice president of business development. Bettadapur joins the Coventor executive team and will help expand the company’s leadership across the semiconductor value chain with a special focus on the capital equipment market.
Bettadapur is well-known in the semiconductor industry with more than 20 years of general management, sales, business development, and operational experience spanning global companies such as Intel and ASML as well as multiple Silicon Valley start-ups. He has established a proven track record of driving significant business growth and forging long-term business relationships with the world’s leading IDMs, foundries, fabless companies, mask suppliers, and capital equipment companies.
“Dinesh’s career path has almost mirrored the development process behind SEMulator3D. From chip design to lithography, Dinesh has a deep level of experience in each of the key areas Coventor serves. Plus, his solid reputation as a dynamic business leader effective in building long-term business alliances with customers and partners will certainly help Coventor widen the market adoption of our solutions and expand into new areas,” said Mike Jamiolkowski, President and CEO of Coventor. “I am looking forward to working with Dinesh to build out Coventor’s value proposition and help the company reach the next level.”
Bettadapur will report to Jamiolkowski and will be primarily responsible for executing the business strategy for the semiconductor equipment market segment along with driving corresponding business relationships and strategic partnerships. He will also play a critical role in developing market opportunities across the IDM market segment while also identifying new areas of growth.
“Coventor has established itself as a market leader in virtual fabrication and is delivering significant value across multiple parts of the semiconductor supply chain,” said Bettadapur. “I am excited to take on this new role at Coventor and working closely with the outstanding team here to focus on the critically important capital equipment market in order to drive significant sales growth and market adoption.”
SEMulator3D Applications for Capital Equipment Market
As Moore’s law endures, it continues to drive significant growth in process complexity and ever shrinking process margins. In order to best address the needs of the future 7nm and 5nm technology nodes, semiconductor equipment companies will need to develop their next-generation unit process equipment solutions by taking a much more integrated process view. SEMulator3D is ideally suited to helping equipment companies meet this new market need by rapidly and accurately analyzing both the upstream and downstream effects of each unit process, which in turn enables the right process tradeoffs to be made. SEMulator3D supports multiple semiconductor equipment use cases including process path finding related to the investigation of novel patterning/integration schemes (e.g. 3D FinFET, 3D NAND, Quad patterning), 3D process visualization, and design-technology co-optimization (DTCO).
About SEMulator3D
SEMulator3D equips the world’s leading semiconductor architects with an advanced 3D virtual fabrication platform that enables them to effectively collaborate at the physical process level and integrate new technologies into the manufacturing process. At the core of the SEMulator3D platform is a revolutionary physics-driven modeling paradigm for addressing physical process behavior that makes virtual fabrication more predictive and provides new opportunities for replacing actual silicon learning cycles with faster, less costly virtual cycles.
About Coventor
Coventor, Inc. is the market leader in automated design solutions for developing semiconductor process technology, as well as micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). Coventor serves a worldwide customer base of integrated device manufacturers, memory suppliers, fabless design houses, independent foundries, and R&D organizations. Its SEMulator3D modeling and analysis platform is used for fast and accurate ‘virtual fabrication’ of advanced manufacturing processes, allowing engineers to understand manufacturing effects early in the development process and reduce time-consuming and costly silicon learning cycles. Its MEMS design solutions are used to develop MEMS-based products for automotive, aerospace, industrial, defense, and consumer electronics applications, including smart phones, tablets, and gaming systems. The company is headquartered in Cary, North Carolina and has offices in California’s Silicon Valley, Waltham, Massachusetts, and Paris, France. More information is available at
