Nordson MARCH Presents New Technical Paper about Overcoming Challenges of Conformal Coating with Plasma Treatment

To be presented at SMTA International during Technical Session MFX3, Room 202D, Tuesday, October 15, 2013, 4:00 – 5:30 PM

Concord, CA, USA, 07 Oct 2013 – Nordson MARCH, a Nordson Company (NASDAQ:  NDSN), a global leader in plasma processing technology, will present the paper “Overcoming the Challenges Presented with Automated Selective Conformal Coating of Advanced Electronic Assemblies by Employing Plasma Treatment Technology,” by David Foote, Global Applications Manager,  Nordson MARCH, at  SMTA International 2013, Fort Worth, TX, Tuesday, October 15,  4:00 – 5:30 PM in Technical Session MFX3, Room 202D.

The electronics industry faces many new challenges with the increased demand for reliability and performance of modern advanced electronic assemblies and the necessity for more environmentally friendly materials. During his presentation “Overcoming the Challenges Presented with Automated Selective Conformal Coating of Advanced Electronic Assemblies by Employing Plasma Treatment Technology,” Mr. Foote will explain how plasma treatment can offer a viable solution to one of these new challenges, conformal coating adhesion. New high-performance solder mask materials designed to meet the higher RoHS temperature requirements and greater use of PTFE designed to meet the demand for higher frequency applications limit the effectiveness of traditional methods. However, by increasing wettability, lowering contact angles, and removing contaminants, plasma treatment can greatly improve conformal coating adhesion.
