Silicon Image’s 60GHz Gen3 WirelessHD® Solution Featured in Epson’s New PowerLite Home Cinema Projectors

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 26, 2013Silicon Image, Inc. (NASDAQ: SIMG), a leading provider of HD connectivity solutions, today announced that its 60GHz WirelessHD® technology is designed into Epson’s newly introduced line of PowerLite Home Cinema 3D 1080p 3LCD projectors—the PowerLite Home Cinema 5030Ube. These new projectors support the highest quality wireless video connectivity from mobile devices to the display with near-zero latency and are ideal for gaming and other interactive video applications.

Each PowerLite projector has an embedded WirelessHD 1.1 receiver and ships with a WirelessHD transmitter adapter, which allows any HDMI®- or MHL®-enabled source device to seamlessly display content over the projector. WirelessHD 1.1 is ideal for connecting Full HD source devices to the projector wirelessly—enabling a robust, cable-like experience that is free from Wi-Fi interference. These PowerLite Home Cinema projectors offer bright, high contrast ratio, high-quality scaling engine for 3D content, and MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) support, making it easy for consumers to connect their MHL-enabled smartphones and tablets for display applications.

“Epson has extended their leadership in embedded 60GHz WirelessHD technology with their new family of PowerLite Home Cinema projectors," said Jim Chase, senior director of marketing for wireless products at Silicon Image. “Our Gen3 WirelessHD chipsets meet the size, cost and power requirements of next-generation, feature-rich consumer A/V products, making them ideal for low latency, interactive HD applications. We are pleased to see continued growth of the WirelessHD 1.1 product ecosystem and look forward to our ongoing collaboration with Epson.”

Silicon Image’s Gen3 WirelessHD chipset consists of the SiI6320 HRTX Network Processor, SiI6321 HRRX Network Processor and SiI6310 HRTR RF Transceiver, which provide all of the functionality needed to enable a complete WirelessHD solution. These chipsets are WirelessHD 1.1 compliant and are compatible with future mobile devices that embed Silicon Image’s UltraGig™ 6400 WirelessHD mobile transmitter.
