Dexter + Chaney Software Announces New Approach to Mobility at 2013 Users Conference

400 Dexter + Chaney Software users experience new releases and combine learning, networking, fun

SEATTLE, May 2, 2013: Construction software provider Dexter + Chaney ( www.dexterchaney.com) announced their new mobile software strategy at the company’s 2013 Users’ Conference last week. The event drew over 400 attendees from across all segments of the construction industry and focused on connecting customers with the latest technologies.

During the conference, Dexter + Chaney president John Chaney announced the company’s multi-tiered approach to mobility: designing enterprise software for mobile use, delivering customizable apps within this software, providing easy integration for 3rd party app developers, and creating new native apps for mobile devices. “We’re committed to providing our customers with the latest in technology so they can access their data whether they’re in the office or the field, whether they use a computer or tablet, and whether or not they have an Internet connection,” said Chaney.

Last year the company accomplished the first two objectives through release of their Spectrum version 14 software. “Version 14 represented a complete redesign, giving clients anywhere, any device access through a web browser interface,” said Chaney. “This meant more than taking existing software and dropping it into a cloud server. It meant a total redesign of the user interface and the way we structured information, keeping all information just one click or screen tap away.” Version 14 of Spectrum also includes built-in dashboard apps and gives users the ability to build their own.

Over the next several months the company will be releasing a number of mobile apps for use on Apple and Android devices. Chaney previewed several of these during the conference, including field equipment management, remote time entry, and project document access. “Construction field management needs access to more powerful tools at the job site that are easy to use, that automatically sync up with their management software, and that can be used when not connected to the Internet,” said Chaney. “We’re delivering these and making it as easy as downloading them from an app store.”

In addition to these announcements, the conference offered attendees eight tracks of courses over 3 days and included multiple networking opportunities including a vendor fair and an evening of entertainment at the famous Seattle Aquarium. Rounding out the event was a keynote presentation from Mark Scharenbroich, Emmy® Award winning speaker and entertainer. According to Lorie Eaker, Accounting Manager at Adolfson & Peterson, Inc., “I’ve been attending the Dexter + Chaney Users’ Conference for years, and this was the best event yet. The networking and learning opportunities continue to expand and improve every year.”
