Helic co-organizes DAC 2012 Workshop on CMOS Design at 60 GHz

May 29, 2012 -- SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Helic, Inc., the technology leader in EDA solutions for RF and high-speed IC design is proud to organize a joint workshop with TSMC, the world’s largest dedicated semiconductor foundry. This insightful event will take place during the 2012 Design Automation Conference, at San Francisco Moscone Center, on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012, 8:30am-12:30pm.

This must-attend workshop addresses all those involved in the design or marketing of RF and millimeter-wave silicon ICs and brings together speakers from across the silicon design ecosystem. The anticipated proliferation of multi-gigabit applications in the 60GHz band (e.g. uncompressed video transmission, rapid file transfers) marks an uptick in millimeter-wave CMOS design. This workshop will provide the audience with a comprehensive treatment of the subject, highlighting the related challenges posed by CMOS design in the 60-GHz band and beyond, as well as the techniques being developed to address them by the ecosystem of IC designers, silicon providers, EDA tool vendors and research institutions.

Dr Sotiris Bantas, Helic CTO, will be joined by a panel including Robert Mullen, Technical Manager, Design Technology Platform at TSMC, Sharad Kapur, President of Integrand Software Inc., Sohrab Emami, Senior Director & Chief Architect, Wireless Division at Silicon Image Inc., and Prof. Georges Gielen from KU Leuven. The speakers will share examples from manufactured silicon, discuss system-level aspects, outline design tool methodologies and address areas for further research.
