Tektronix Wins ARM TechCon Best in Show Award for Embedded Instrumentation Software

BEAVERTON, OR -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Nov 03, 2011 -- Tektronix, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, today announced that it has won the ARM TechCon Best in Show Award for Software. The Tektronix Embedded Instrumentation Group, formed out of the recent acquisition of Veridae Systems, won the award for its Clarus and Certus tools for ASIC and FPGA validation and debugging.

"Innovation in the ability to test and analyze products is relentless, so when a novel approach presents itself engineers inevitably take notice. Spinning technology successfully out of university research, commercializing it to a situation where even a market leader desires it, is a tremendous achievement," said Colin Holland, Editor and ARM TechCon Awards Judge, UBM Electronics. "We are pleased to salute with the ARM TechCon award, Tektronix EIG, for its debug and validation software tools that are bringing innovation to engineers."

The inaugural ARMTech Best in Show Awards recognized the best-in-class technologies introduced since the last ARM TechCon. There were three awards: one for Chip Design, one for Software and a third for Hardware. The winners were selected by a group of editors that cover the industry.

"Receiving this award and industry recognition underscores the importance of debug and validation in the overall design process of modern ASICs and FPGAs," said Dave Farrell, general manager, Digital Analysis product line and Embedded Instrumentation Group, Tektronix. "Our tools allow designers to see what's inside these complex Systems on Chip enabling visibility of critical signals at full operating speeds resulting in a planned and shorter validation and debug process."

Clarus is a suite of analysis tools teamed with an IP generator that helps identify the critical signals for debug, instrument them with what is effectively a distributed lightweight on-chip logic analyzer, extract the data from the FPGA or silicon prototype, and interpret the results.

Certus is a multi-FPGA ASIC prototyping validation and debug suite. When paired with a user's choice of prototyping hardware, partitioning flow, and FPGA CAD tools, Certus provides the key enabling technology of a complete prototyping solution.
