Budapest, Hungary (April 12, 2011) -- The Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture (HCA), a public national agricultural informational and advisory service assisting Hungarian agricultural producers, has recommended that Hungarian farmers purchase MobileMapper® CX, GPS/GIS receivers to measure and calculate the size of land parcels they farm. The recommendation was made following HCA tests of several competing brands. The HCA, which purchased and tested ten MobileMapper CX receivers for its own use, determined the MobileMapper CX GIS/GPS handheld was best suited to meet the needs of local farmers.
The HCA tests required agricultural field measurements to be within a sub-three-meter accuracy. The MobileMapper CX achieved this accuracy, as did the competing brands, but the MobileMapper CX achieved the accuracy with the greatest stability and highest reliability. As requested by EU, Hungarian farmers provide their agriculture data to European Union agencies in reports and using measurement protocols which are provided by Digiterra® Professional V6 that runs on the MobileMapper CX open platform. The MobileMapper CX was also competitively priced.
Twenty MobileMapper CX GPS units were purchased in 2010 from GPSCom, Ashtech distributor in Hungary, and additional deployments are planned as farmers are getting involved in this European environmental management program financed and supervised by EU for the next 5 years. Local farmers obtain subventions from European funds based on their contribution to the EU program led by the HCA in Hungary.
