March 15, 2011 - The latest HP-sponsored DesignByMany challenge is now open for entrants. This challenge calls for the design of a protective canopy in an urban pedestrian setting. The goal is to provide a functional, feasible and elegant architectural solution to protect urban pedestrians from the elements, while promoting good ventilation and daylight levels.
Designers are free to choose a location, but their solutions should clearly explain the chosen location and how the design responds to its climate and orientation. The winner of this month’s challenge will take home an HP Designjet 111 Printer. All submissions are due by Sunday, March 27 and then voting will be open for the DesignByMany community until April 3.
Launched at Autodesk University, DesignByMany is an online community that enables designers to collaborate through a variety of design challenges. Organized by David Fano, founder of design technology consultancy CASE , the DesignByMany community encourages technical design professionals from around the world to share their skills and visions to improve the community as a whole.
