Google, Nokia, Yahoo, Gowalla will meet at Europe’s largest LBS conference to discuss the future of the industry and mark out clear profit strategies

The LBS industry’s thought leaders will gather in Amsterdam in May for what is set to be a definitive meeting for the industry – The Location Business Summit 2011.

Now in its second year, The Location Business Summit was created to provide a much needed meeting place for companies to mark out strategies for monetisation.

TheWhereBusiness has now announced the program for this year’s event, which takes place in Amsterdam on May 24th and 25th.

Topics under in-depth discussion will range from location based advertising and mobile commerce, to local search, context-aware content, augmented reality integration and location data privacy.

The inclusion of LBA and mobile commerce in this year’s event agenda is in response to the rapid evolution of the ecosystem in which location is now seen as a key enabler for most future services. And with Juniper Research predicting that the LBS market will be worth between €9.5 and €15.4 billion within the next three or four years, this is certainly an exciting time for the industry.

How to navigate these changing waters and mark out a clear path to profits will be a major theme of the conference. Discussing these changes is vital, says John Stansfield, LBS manager at Orange, who will be speaking at the conference: “In a year from now, the story will be dramatically different.”

Lucy Lincoln, Vice President of Location Based Services at TheWhereBusiness, commented: “The roots of a fully location-enabled future have been firmly planted, and it’s important that companies make the most of this golden opportunity and secure their position in this rapidly evolving ecosystem.”

The Location Business Summit 2011 agenda has been designed to reveal innovative strategies and to present unique perspectives on the future of the LBS ecosystem and how to monetise it.

With more than 200 attendees, this conference brings together the LBS industry’s elite, from leading ad agencies, international retailers and brands, local listings, operators, service providers, software giants and device manufacturers, including Google, Nokia, Yahoo, Orange, KPN, Gowalla, OpenStreetMap, Lastminute.com, Debenhams, Ogilvy, Vodafone, Yell Group, Microsoft Advertising and IconMobile.

TheWhereBusiness have also announced key sponsors for the event which include: Qualcomm (badge sponser) Loqate (co-sponsor) and Maporama (co-sponsor)

The Location Business Summit 2011 will be held on May 24th – 25th at the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam.
