DENVER, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jan 26, 2011 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based and mobile software applications for e-government, today announced that it has been awarded a contract in excess of $3 million to provide the City and County of Denver (CCD) with a multi-department, land management system, powered by the company's flagship Accela Automation® software. The enterprise solution will provide the public with automated permitting, licensing and inspection services, as well as 24/7 online access.
When complete, the system will streamline processes for CCD's teams of Planning, Enforcement, Right of Way, and Development Services (encompassing Building, Zoning, and Fire Prevention), by enabling seamless sharing of information between function areas, as well as between back-office and mobile workers. Accela Automation will track permit and license applications and fees, and automatically route applications to appropriate personnel in various departments for follow-up on issues such as compliance with zoning, fire, or occupancy codes. The software's mobility and GIS mapping capabilities will allow office- and field-based teams to access, update and share key data in real-time -- boosting accuracy and eliminating time-consuming trips to the office for data entry. Meanwhile, businesses and residents will be able apply, pay for and track their permits and licenses online from their home, office or mobile devices.
CCD's selection of Accela Automation underscores the agency's strategic push to augment the services it provides for a jurisdiction whose growing population of over 600,000 is scattered across 155 square miles and approximately 215,000 parcels of land. More than 200 CCD staff process an average of 60,000 construction permits annually.
"For CCD, serving the public is Job One, so our goals for this project are far reaching," said Dan Roberts, Development Services Director at CCD. "We're pleased to work with Accela on a solution that will improve efficiency, transparency and accountability, as well as communication and service to our customers."
"Governments dealing with rapid change and growth can't sit still," said Maury Blackman, CEO and President of Accela. "They must use the best tools available to empower their workers and keep up with the public's expectations. We applaud CCD's long-term vision and commitment to the citizens of Denver."
Software Portfolio Spans Government Needs
Accela Automation provides governments of all sizes and populations with a complete solution for automating critical tasks associated with permitting, licensing, code enforcement, community development and planning, inspections and investigations, infrastructure asset management, emergency response, and more. The software utilizes an open architecture and a centralized database, allowing information to be easily accessed across departments.
-
Accela GIS™ offers office and field-based teams advanced mapping capability in a rich user interface, allowing users to access and share data from agency or Bing maps. Accela GIS supports Esri's ArcGIS Server and integrates with an agency's existing GIS systems to provide a geographic view of all land-use, zoning, and infrastructure information associated with a parcel, permit, inspection or plan.
-
Accela Mobile Office™ provides field-based government workers with the access to the same data, case histories, and maps as back-office staff -- eliminating the need for pen-and-paper recording or multiple office visits for data entry. Information can be modified in real-time from the field or synchronized later if wireless connectivity is lacking.
-
Accela Citizen Access™ allows builders, contractors and developers to apply and pay for all their needed permits via a single online shopping cart from home or office, and even to access their permits and applications from a smartphone. Inspections can be coordinated or documentation attached for government inspectors -- all in the same, intuitive user interface they would experience in their home or office. Accela Citizen Access is also compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and has been enhanced to fully support the use of assistive technologies, enabling public users with sight impairments to benefit from 24/7 access.
In preparation for the 2012 deployment of the complete CCD system, Accela partners Woolpert, Inc. and TruePoint Solutions will assist with analysis, testing and integration efforts.
