GGP Software Users Win National Awards

October 21, 2010 -- Users of GGP software were announced as winners in five out of six categories at a UK national awards ceremony yesterday. The 2010 National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG) Exemplar Awards were presented at a one-day conference ‘Everything Happens Somewhere’ held on the 20th October at Cutlers’ Hall, Sheffield.

The London Borough of Harrow scooped awards for their innovative use of technology together with the Financial and Green Awards, while Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were rewarded for organisation wide integration of address records. Plymouth City Council meanwhile received the Naming Award having demonstrated two street naming projects that celebrated and commemorated former residents of the historic port city.

In addition to the primary award categories users of GGP software also shone in the performance categories with Tandridge Council awarded ‘Best in South East’ for the NLPG and Blaby, Blackpool, Eastleigh and Tandridge Councils all achieving ‘Gold Standard’ for their quality and accuracy of their local databases.

“This is the fifth year running that users of GGP software have demonstrated outstanding performance in these awards and the best ever - with our customers scooping five out of six of the headline categories,” commented Tim Maxwell, Managing Director and founder of GGP Systems. “Our users also performed well in the categories based on data quality and accuracy and we are proud to continue with our support of customers at the front line of delivering, maintaining and deriving benefit from the both the NLPG and NSG.”

The 2010 NLPG / NSG Exemplar Awards were designed to recognise the innovation, effort, commitment and achievement of local authorities, police and fire involved in the creation, maintenance and utilisation of these essential information resources. Jointly hosted by Intelligent Addressing and the Local Government Information House the 2010 awards were presented by Councillor Shaffaq Mohammed, Cabinet Member for Communities, Sheffield City Council.
