September 30, 2010 -- At the National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) annual meeting that was held in Minneapolis, Applied Geographics, Inc. (AppGeo) President Rich Grady received an “Outstanding Service Award” from NSGIC.
Presented by NSGIC President, Will Craig, the Award recognizes Rich's “exceptional and dedicated service to NSGIC and indeed the Nation, by advancing the purpose of the Council.” In presenting the award, Craig noted Rich’s long history supporting NSGIC, including “going the extra mile” to develop guidelines for state GIS strategic planning for NSGIC on behalf of the FGDC (Federal Geographic Data Committee); helping to improve the level of performance in many state GIS operations; managing the Fifty States' Initiative contract; and for his current involvement in the Transportation For The Nation (TFTN) strategic planning effort for the US Department of Transportation (USDOT).
“This Award is an honor, and I feel very fortunate to receive it,” said Grady. “Professionally, I have a deep sense of purpose to advance the goals of NSGIC and the Fifty States’ Initiative, and to help conceptualize and build Geospatial Platforms that are the building blocks of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). At AppGeo, we are all dedicated to this purpose; and so, I would like to share this honor with all of my colleagues, in recognition of their strong support and outstanding work, every day.”
