President Warren Harris to Speak on Monday, September 13
Detroit, September 13, 2010 – Tata Technologies, a global leader in Engineering Services Outsourcing (ESO), Enterprise Solutions services, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) today announced that “BETTER INNOVATION on Tour,” its program focusing upon its contributions to the innovations that produced the Tata Nano, the world’s most affordable car, will be presented at the Frost & Sullivan GIL 2010: Silicon Valley event in San Jose, Calif., September 12-14. Warren Harris, Tata Technologies President and COO, will make the presentation on Monday, September 13.
Using the Tata Nano, and the contributions that Tata Technologies made to put the vehicle into production and bring it to market, Mr. Harris will discuss the principles of frugal engineering, the creative and innovative application of technology to enhance time-to-market while reducing development costs, and the importance of combining these elements to keep manufacturers – in any segment – competitive.
Tata Technologies played a key role in engineering the Nano, which is produced by Tata Motors in India, for the Indian market. The company is using the car to highlight its full-vehicle engineering and design capabilities to clients, engineering students and select automotive and engineering media.
BETTER INNOVATION on Tour kicked off in April, in the U.S., with visits to client sites and various special media events. In May, the tour visited “Goodyear Innovation Day,” at the Goodyear Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio; and in June, BETTER INNOVATION on Tour appeared at Auto21 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada as a part of that country’s largest gathering devoted to automotive innovation and automotive component development. In August, BETTER INNOVATION on Tour was featured at the CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Mich.
“The innovative thinking that brought the Tata Nano to market is symbolic of what Tata Technologies has to offer the manufacturing industry,” said Warren Harris, Tata Technologies’ President and COO. “Tata Technologies was front-and-center in engineering and developing the Nano; working closely with Tata Motors and with a significant number of the Nano project suppliers.”
Tata Technologies contributed to 28 of the 59 patent applications filed on the Nano project, according to Harris, “Our work on the Nano is part of a sweeping wave of change within the automotive industry and within manufacturing overall – the use of truly global engineering resources.”
