Another Global Leader Chooses Fishbowl Solutions to Partner with for Their Migration to PTC® Windchill®

Minneapolis, MN — August 23, 2010 —  A world-leading supplier of process control and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related microelectronics industries partnered with Fishbowl Solutions ( www.fishbowlsolutions.com) to migrate their engineering data management system to PTC’s industry leading Windchill® platform.

The customer had been using PTC’s Pro/INTRALINK® 3.4 with 6 replication servers located around the globe and over 1000 different folders with access controls.  They had hundreds of end users and over a terabyte of data, so there was significant complexity to the migration.  The two main reasons for the move to the Windchill platform were the gain in WAN efficiencies as well as the transition to a fully supported environment.  In addition to Pro/INTRALINK® 3.4, they were also long time users of Fishbowl’s eAccess solution. eAccess allowed secure, easy-to-use web-based access to engineering data in Pro/INTRALINK 3.4 and translated it into a format such as PDF or STEP on the fly when they needed it.

Fishbowl Solutions was chosen for this project because of its past relationship with the company, its deep technical expertise around implementing the Windchill solution set, and its ability to deliver out-of-the-box and custom PTC Pro/TOOLKIT®, Pro/INTRALINK, and Windchill applications. The total start to finish project took about three months to complete with intermittent consulting work during that time period, but the final production migration was completed over a weekend thus eliminating any engineering downtime.

Fishbowl consultants utilized their linkTuner and linkSecurity products to meet the additional customer requirements.  linkTuner was used to benchmark and optimize Windchill performance for the distributed sites while linkSecurity was and is being used to manage their complex folder level access controls on over 1000 different folders. The customer also upgraded to Fishbowl’s linkAccess for Windchill from eAccess in order to retain the ability for non-Pro/ENGINEER users to gain simple, secure access to PTC Pro/ENGINEER® files in Windchill and translate them into PDF, STEP and other supported formats on the fly when they need them.
