IMTS 2010, Chicago is the place for engineers to see
Sescoi’s updated range of integrated CAD/CAM software and ERP systems, at
Booth E-3936, located within the Lakeside Center of McCormick Place.
Previews of WorkNC V21 will enable visitors to witness the very latest advances in the company’s world leading automatic CAM software. Additionally, Sescoi’s all new WorkNC-CAD Hybrid Modeler, Wire EDM and Electrode modules can be assessed. Manufacturers from the medical and dental sector will be interested in version 2 of the WorkNC Dental CAD/CAM software for “one button” machining of dental prostheses and implants. Latest versions of the WorkPLAN Enterprise manufacturing ERP, MyWorkPLAN jobshop software and WorkXPlore 3D high-speed 3D CAD Viewer complete the line-up.
Sescoi is so confident it can prove that WorkNC is more efficient than any other CAM system, that it is again running its ‘
WorkNC Challenge’. Companies are invited to bring along their own CAD data for Sescoi engineers to provide live, non-scripted, demonstrations. Sescoi is so confident in WorkNC, companies that evaluate it after the IMTS show will see an improvement in their overall productivity, or Sescoi will give them a top shelf Manufacturing Pro version of their WorkXPlore 3D advanced CAD viewer.
Ten fold speed improvements in the processing and calculation times in
WorkNC V21 CAM software have been achieved through the implementation of
64-bit and
multi-core processing algorithms, which take advantage of the latest advances in computer hardware, making WorkNC lightning fast. Visitors to IMTS will also be able to attend a seminar hosted by Sescoi, ‘Utilizing new software algorithms to improve CAM programming, shorten mill times and increase security’, which highlights the benefits to be gained by using advanced CAM software.
5-axis CNC programming is even easier in WorkNC V21. Improvements in the ergonomics of its automatic 5-axis programming module, Auto 5, will make it possible for more companies to reap the benefits of 5-axis CNC machining with absolute confidence in their ability to produce safe and reliable toolpaths, all the while machining with the shortest tools possible. Showcase parts at IMTS will include the first appearance in the U.S. of the amazing Samurai ‘Kabuto’ helmet, machined in WorkNC, which will give visitors an idea of the capabilities of the software.
The new
WorkNC-CAD Hybrid Modeling software combines the best of surface and solid modelers to provide engineers with a CAD system which can import design data from a multitude of leading CAD systems and analyze, modify and repair it ready for manufacture. The ability to work on both open and closed models, apply parametric Boolean, and surfacing operations to the design makes WorkNC-CAD an invaluable tool for companies. Functions include mold splitting, surface patching and surface extension, addition of draft angles, fillet and shell features, the ability to work with assemblies of parts, model analysis functions, which help to determine manufacturability, and associative 2D drafting. A clear and easy to use interface simplifies design work, making it a familiar environment for engineers, enabling them to be productive extremely quickly.
Programming
Wire EDM machines is simplified in WorkNC Wire EDM. Cross sections can be created anywhere on the model for controlling the 2-axis and 4-axis wire paths. Control of the wire path allows multiple passes of open or closed contours, different corner cutting strategies such as square, round or rectangular for managing the finished part, cutting capabilities including tag and slug removal, and a library of control setting options to suit the material and its thickness. WorkNC Wire EDM is presented in one integrated environment which guides users through the steps required, with self-explanatory dialogue boxes.
For electrode manufacture, the new
WorkNC Electrode Module uses the capabilities of WorkNC-CAD Hybrid Modeling to make it easy to extract 3D electrode geometry directly from the CAD model. Tangency extensions can be added to improve tool control where necessary, and a library of tool holders allows the operator to build up the complete electrode. Machining in 3 or 5-axis is automatic, working across a range of electrodes simultaneously, keeping track of the electrode origins to ensure they are positioned and used accurately on the EDM machine.
For dental professionals, Sescoi’s
WorkNC Dental provides a cost effective
open dental CAD/CAM system for the automatic machining of dental prostheses. Scanned data for implants, bridges and crowns is imported into WorkNC Dental, where it is nested into the blank and support pins added, optimizing material utilization and securing the prostheses for manufacture. Automatic machining routines cut the part with one mouse click, taking account of the material properties, enabling zirconia, titanium, chromium cobalt as well as, in the latest version of the software, more materials such as lithium disilicate to be machined. The new version of WorkNC Dental also allows engraving directly onto the surface of the prosthesis, thereby improving traceability. For practitioners, WorkNC Dental makes the production of prostheses a simple and quick exercise which does not require specialist CNC machining knowledge and which can be linked to a wide range of machines and scanners for maximum flexibility.
SAP-certified,
WorkPLAN Enterprise manufacturing ERP and
MyWorkPLAN jobshop software are geared towards the needs of custom and ETO manufacturers, enabling them to produce highly accurate quotations and achieve live cost control as the job progresses. Tools in the software provide continual feedback on key business indicators and the progress of production. Users can achieve significant improvements in delivery, quality and profitability performance while greatly reducing administrative overheads. When only a powerful tool for accurate quoting is required, the MyWorkPLAN Estimator
job costing software is available as a standalone.
Involving more people within an organization and its supply chain in product development can help to speed up design and optimize product quality and performance. The high speed
WorkXPlore 3D CAD Viewer achieves this by importing and integrating CAD data from multiple sources, allowing users to share, analyze, mark-up and interrogate models at high-speed. The free and low cost modules in WorkXPlore 3D make this an affordable process, encouraging collaborative working throughout an organization. Sescoi will be giving away CDs of the free version and trial versions of the software on its IMTS booth so that engineers can try it for themselves.
Sescoi will be able to demonstrate to show visitors how their range of CAD, CAM and ERP software systems can be integrated and combined to transform productivity and profitability.
