"America's manufacturers have long stood at the center of our nation's prosperity and national security – putting our middle class to work on assembly lines, forming the foundation of our global economic leadership, and translating technological advances into the products we use in our daily lives. Today, our manufacturing strategy continues in this tradition, reaffirming that when we 'make it in America,' we create jobs and lead the world economy.
"House Democrats are committed to putting people to work in high-skill, high-wage jobs – promoting American competitiveness, innovation, and exports. To achieve our goals, we will close tax loopholes that encourage outsourcing, and offer tax credits to help small business hire workers and sell their innovation at home and abroad.
"Our strategy will create new American jobs building wind turbines and solar panels to power our homes and businesses. We will force China and other countries to honor fair trade principles; put returning veterans to work in clean energy jobs; and strengthen partnerships with businesses to retrain our workforce.
"Democrats are fighting to restore the words 'made in America' to the center of our economic success. Yet Congressional Republicans want to pursue the 'exact same agenda' of the Bush years, when we lost 4.6 million American manufacturing jobs. While Democrats stand up for middle-class families, Republicans sign pledges and vote to protect tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. This isn't the leadership America needs. We need to keep moving our country in a new direction. We are not going back."
