NAVTEQ and GIS Solutions will support the Research and Innovative Technology Administration, Bureau of Transportation Statistics (RITA/BTS)
SAN DIEGO, July 13 — (PRNewswire) — NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, announces that the United States Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) has selected NAVTEQ® map data to support geospatial information and services for the Research and Innovative Technology Administration, Bureau of Transportation Statistics (RITA/BTS).NAVTEQ map data will be used by the RITA across a wide variety of research and analysis programs in support of its mission to bring advanced technologies into the transportation system. NAVTEQ map data will be integrated with geospatial transportation networks and facilities to enable a multi-modal network that supports routing within the RITA/BTS application, GeoMiler. The GeoMiler application develops core multi-modal routing models for domestic and export shipments for various transportation systems including sea ports, airports, railways and roads. GIS Solutions, a leading GIS services and product company, will aggregate the NAVTEQ map with other supported data and then convert the data into useable formats supported by the GeoMiler application.
