Map of USA optimized for geocoding
ROTTERDAM, — June 14, 2010 — AND Automotive Navigation Data, the Dutch developer of digital mapping data, has released their first map of the USA. The full digital map of the USA is now available for commercial use. The map is optimized for geocoding.
The map contains all roads, streets, cities and villages. The map is a vector-based digital road map, optimized for geocoding, route planning, time-distance calculations and optimization studies.
Geocoding is the process of finding geographic coordinates from geographic data, such as street addresses or zip codes (postal codes). With these coordinates the features can be shown on a map. The new map can be used by online companies, social networks, blogs etc for geocoding, routing and map viewing.
The release of the digital map of the United States follows the commercial availability of continental Europe and is further evidence of the accelerating development of the advanced database of AND, which positions itself even stronger in the market.
Chief Executive Officer Maarten Oldenhof: “ The finalization of the digital map of the United States of America proves that AND is committed to developing new maps. Our course is clear. We want to expand our portfolio and we are willing and able to invest in product development. Large clients support this strategy and following their demand we have developed a digital map of the USA optimized for geocoding and reversed geocoding. I believe this proves that our independent position works out successfully.”
AND is the third largest supplier in its market, but the only independent one. Strengthened by its success to date, the company will continue to focus on creating long-term value for shareholders by providing digital maps for location-based services. The company focuses on the further development of its advanced database to position itself even more effectively in the market.
