June 07, 2010 -- 1Spatial is delighted to report that the company is fostering some entrepreneurial spirit amongst young people in the area.

A local Girl Guide group based in Arbury and lead by 1Spatial Senior Consultant Claire Rose has been working with members of the 1Spatial Sales team to gain sales and marketing insight in preparation for an apprentice-style challenge to raise money for the guide’s summer camp later this year.

The group, with around 15 members aged between 10 and 12, regularly participates in community activities, including the annual Arbury Carnival. The Carnival is a free event originally created to celebrate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 and currently includes a procession, entertainment, fair rides and stalls. The Carnival itself is non-profit making but instead allows local groups and charities to raise funds.

The guides have been split into two teams and each has a 1Spatial representative who they have been working with for several weeks on ideas. With this year’s carnival taking place on Saturday 12th June and fast approaching, the teams have been finalising their plans. The Seals team, being coached by Sales and Marketing Executive Hayley Merrill, will be running a tombola-style stall but instead of household items and raffle tickets they will be using plastic ducks in a paddling pool! The Robin team, with Sales Director Duncan Guthrie as their mentor, will be manning a ‘stocks and sponges’ stand where people will get the opportunity to throw wet sponges at a person of their choice (as long as that person agrees!) who will be held in the stocks.
