Gatineau, June 7th 2010 – DBx GEOMATICS today announced the launch of an interactive web application for the International Polar Year on the Canadian Geographic website.
DBx GEOMATICS is proud to be part of this project, the largest international scientific program of research on the Arctic and Antarctica that has been made to date. It brought together over ten thousand researchers from sixty-three countries for a better understanding of consequences due to climate changes.
The purpose of the interactive map developed with CartoVista is to get the public to know about scientific information concerning the polar environment. A summary of about 50 Canadian scientific projects in which many ministers and universities have been involved, has been integrated in this innovative interface.
With its CartoVista user-friendly map engine, DBx GEOMATICS has created a multifunctional map that presents thematic points and textual summaries on each project. Additionally, the interactive application offers multimedia information including a description of the projects and pictures. The information is also more easily accessible thanks to a search engine by keywords.
The next step in this project will consist in delivering the application developed by DBx GEOMATICS on USB keys during the IPY Science Conference that will be held this month in Oslo, Norway. Then, new information such as new projects, reports in pdf format and videos, will be added to complete this rich CartoVista application.
