Carmenta increases its involvement in GIS standardization

Göteborg April 27, 2010 — The latest version of the Carmenta Server has the market’s best support for certified services from Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc (OGC). Carmenta has been a member of OGC for a number of years and has extensive experience of working with open standards. The company is now increasing its involvement in OGC and will in future be participating in the technical committee work and actively influence the design of future international standards within the area of GIS.

The Carmenta Server product provides organizations and companies with access to a tried and tested server technology for handling digital maps and other geographic information. The product is used, for example, by government authorities to meet INSPIRE directive criteria on distribution and exchange of geographic data with the help of standardized service interfaces. With the help of the Carmenta Server, organizations can create geodata services based on OGC’s WMS, WFS and WCS specifications, and display metadata with the help of a qualified CSW service.
