Logic Releases System on Module and Development Kits for Texas Instruments’ AM1808 ARM Microprocessor

Logic offers low power ARM® solution for connected instrument applications

MINNEAPOLIS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 7, 2010 — Logic today released the AM1808 System on Module (SOM) and the Zoom AM1808 Development Kits based on the Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) AM1808 microprocessor launched yesterday. Logic developed the AM1808 SOM and corresponding development kits for customers requiring a low power ARM9 at an entry level price point for handheld and embedded connectivity applications.

The AM1808 SOM-M1 brings the industry leading low power ARM926 core to a small, off-the-shelf solution with an entry level price point. The standard SOM-M1 form factor allows developers to reuse existing baseboard designs when upgrading to new Sitara processors. The compact size of the AM1808 SOM-M1 is ideal for medical patient monitoring wearables and other portable instrumentation applications. The built-in Programmable Real-time Unit (PRU) and Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) interface makes the AM1808 SOM-M1 also ideal for applications that require high-speed data transfer and high-capacity storage, such as test and measurement, public safety radios, music effects and intelligent occupancy sensors.

“Logic’s complementary development kits and SOMs can accelerate product development using TI’s processors by four to six months,” said Kurt Larson, director of hardware products at Logic. “TI’s technology combined with our years of development expertise give developers the speed and agility needed to compete in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing product development environment.”

Logic’s software and hardware platforms fast forward product development while reducing risk and controlling costs. For example, application development can be performed right on the product-ready AM1808 SOM-M1 and software Board Support Packages (BSPs) included in the AM1808 Development Kits, which enables developers to immediately begin development work and seamlessly transfer application code and hardware into production.
